airlines Travel News:Is going green cheating you? These days everyone is going green. From banks to water companies, many are encouraging consumers to go paperless and handle their accounts online. Travel companies are also going greeen. One big difference in regard to the travel companies, is the lack of communication. Airlines, for instance, are eliminating paper statements. Not only are airlines eliminating paper statesments but they are also sending out fewer notifications.

Many travelers are receiving a rude awakening when planning travel. Airlines have ceased notifying travelers of important account terms. For example, flights are requiring more frequent flyer miles and frequent flyer miles are now expiring without notice. More than likely, this change and effort to go green is also the result of the current state of the economy.
With that being said, we must do the following to make sure we are not being cheated by airlines and other companies “going green”:

1. Make No Assumptions. When booking travel, make sure to ask as many questions as possible. Remember there is no such thing as a stupid question. Nevermind that you booked a flight last week for 20K miles, inquire while making reservations to ensure there have been no changes.

2. Double Check you terms. Although the airline agent will go over your terms with you, make sure you take the time to actually read them. People all make mistakes. Ensure you have the correct information before confirming any reservations.

3. ALWAYS read the fine print. We are all aware of the fine print. Make sure you read it. Most times it is fine for a reason.
